addressing circulating social media posts regarding School Safety

This post is to address recently circulating Social Media posts regarding School Safety.

On August 20th, the FBI office in Little Rock issued a general awareness statement about information they received relating to possible school shootings in Arkansas and Kentucky.

Although the Monroe County Sheriff's Office is not aware of any specific threats to any school in Monroe County, we are taking this issue seriously.

We will be working with our schools and the local Police Departments around our County to ensure that our students and school staff are safe and secure. Our children and teachers are number one. Sheriff Neal has directed his Deputies to conduct patrols in and around school locations to assist the local Police in keeping our kids, teachers, staff, and visitors safe.
