Clarendon Man charged with Battery after Weekend Shooting

Kelvin “KK” Hampton

Kelvin “KK” Hampton charged with Battery after weekend altercation in Clarendon.

The Clarendon Police Department, Monroe County Sheriff’s Department and Arkansas State Police all responded to a 9-1-1 call to the Donald Branch fishing hole in Clarendon late Sunday afternoon. According to witnesses, Kelvin Hampton also known as “KK”, approached a group of men playing basketball. Hampton is accused of starting an altercation with Erin Daniels of Clarendon, which resulted with Daniels being stabbed. Witnesses claim that Hampton also produced a gun and fired several shots that resulted in a Holly Grove man being shot. Kendrick Wiley was taken to Stuttgart by ambulance, but his injuries do not appear to be life threatening. Daniels was also transported to Stuttgart where he was transferred to UAMS in Little Rock where he underwent surgery from his stab wound. He is still in an Intensive Care Unit. On Tuesday, Kelvin Hampton appeared before a Circuit Court Judge and his bond was set at $250,000.00. He will make his first appearance in Monroe County Circuit Court on August 30th. Clarendon Police Chief Randy Julian commends the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department and the Arkansas State Police for such excellent cooperation and assistance in this case. “We are so effective in accomplishing results when we all work together”.
